Founder's FRA Works
Working in partnership with RHUL to upgrade and protect the prestigious Grade I listed Founder's Building.

Phase I - Passive Fire Stopping
​
The main focus of Phase I was to effectively manage all unprotected penetrations through 60 & 30 minute compartment lines.

Phase II - Fire Escape Routes
​
This phase includes the enhancement and reconfiguration of the buildings escape routes from all residential floors.
​
Sensitive alterations to the external façade were required to ensure the shortest route to a place of ultimate safety could be achieved.


Phase III - Fire Door Replacements
​
This phase includes the replacement and certification of all new fire doors within both 60 & 30 minutes compartments.
​
Working in partnership with experienced heritage consultants this phase includes over 250 internal door replacements within a live environment.
Phase IV - Fire Door Refurbishments
​
Working alongside experienced heritage and fire consultants this phase includes over 400 internal door refurbishments of the original bedroom and office doors within the Founders Building.
​
As these doors are part of the buildings original listing in 1986, the project team will sensitively refurbish each door to ensure they are complaint with the latest fire safety regulations.


Phase V - Dry Riser Installation
​
This phase included the installation and commissioning of four dry risers in each of the main stair cores.
Working in partnership with the local council and fire service this addition to RHUL's heritage asset will play a vital role in assisting the fire service in the event of an emergency.
