Upton House Main School Extension and Nursery

The main school development was designed to complement the adjacent nursery building, Little Upton, which we completed for the well-established school six years earlier, with the use of smooth ‘off-white’ bricks, curved glass block feature walls and striking blue glazed external canopies. 

The concept of the nursery was to create a light and airy feel to the building with direct access to outside play areas from all of the ground floor classrooms, favoured by Ofsted.  Glass block walls and carefully positioned windows and rooflights create a similar effect at first floor level.

The multi-use, main school building offers a large dining hall, which doubles as an open plan function area and exhibition space.  The second floor, accessed via a bespoke steel and glazed staircase, provides high specification teaching rooms for music and art amongst others.

The completed buildings stand proudly as part of the iconic Windsor ‘townscape’.
