Arsenal Football Club East and West Stand Redevelopment

Contacts at Chelsea recommended HDC to assist Arsenal in the preparation of a feasibility study for the redevelopment of Highbury Stadium.

Arsenal were enjoying a period of success under George Graham and had just completed the construction of a new North Stand in 1993.

This study looked at the complete refurbishment to the upper and lower concourses of the East and West Stands, as well as a proposed new executive suite in the West Stand. However, the proposed project was shelved with the finances going into the purchase of Dennis Bergkamp in 1995.

The North Stand was to become the last major works undertaken at Highbury Stadium; as success continued through the 90’s, the decision was made to move to a new home, the Emirates Stadium, which was completed in 2006.
