Fern Hill Primary School

Client: Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames

Value: £3.6m*

This two form entry school is one of a series of projects forming part of a framework agreement with Serco Property & Design, an organisation we have worked with over many years.

The single storey building was constructed using a steel frame in conjunction with ’Glulan’ beams, traditional brickwork, cedar cladding and profiled aluminium roofing.

The key features of the project include:

  • a circular turret structure dominating the front of the building with eaves level windows at the circumference and canopy glazing at a lower level

  • free standing pyramid shaped covered area to main entrance

  • aluminium windows picked out in bright yellow against the traditional colour of red brick walls

This is one of a series of education projects undertaken for the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames.
