Kingston University Faculty of Technology

Client: Kingston University

Value: £23m* (two phases)

This project, phased over a 3 year period, was designed to accommodate many different sciences, with care taken to ensure that the buildings had the capacity to remain flexible for the future.

The main contractor was required to maintain access to existing adjacent accommodation whilst construction was in progress. Due to the presence of a conscientious contractor and a dedicated Design Team, we were able to successfully complete the works and satisfy the Client’s objectives.

Key features of the project include:

  • Moulded facing brickwork and tinted glass curtain walling.

  • An external steel catwalk structure expressing the building’s function as a place of teaching excellence for modern engineering sciences

  • The accommodation of the more unusual sciences such as micropaleontology, stratigraphy, petrology, minerology, photomicrography and sedimentology.

This is one of several projects undertaken for Kingston University.
