Kensington Sports Centre Rejuvenation

This project involved the partial redevelopment of the existing sports centre to bring the facilities up to date and reinvigorate local interest in the use of the centre.

The sports centre was closed for the duration of the construction works due to the extensive nature of the improvements, which included:

  • A new two storey sports hall with multi-purpose sports hall on the first floor and 'dry' changing facilities under

  • A new main entrance

  • Refurbishment of existing reception and 'wet' changing areas, new catering facilities, staff facilities and offices, multi-use club room, first aid and sports injuries rooms, new cyber-café and other general upgrades to existing facilities

  • Refurbishment of existing swimming pool areas including upgrading the pool plant, replacement of the main pool hall ventilation and lighting, a new stretch fabric ceiling over main pool and new gallery seating

  • Installation of a movable floor and submersible boom in main pool

  • Redesigning and landscaping of the car park

  • General upgrade throughout to meet Disability Discrimination Act access and facilities requirements
